Quality Gas Turbine Flowmeter: Types and Functions

Release Time:

2023-05-25

1. What is a quality gas turbine flowmeter?
A quality gas turbine flowmeter is a mechanical device used to measure the flow rate of a gas in a pipe or duct. It does this by measuring the velocity of the gas as it flows through a turbine rotor. The rotor is mounted on bearings and spins at a speed proportional to the flow rate of the gas.
2. What are the different types of quality gas turbine flowmeters?
There are two main types of quality gas turbine flowmeters: insertion flowmeters and inline flowmeters.
Insertion flowmeters are installed in a pipe or duct by drilling a hole into the wall and inserting the flowmeter probe. The probe contains a turbine rotor which rotates as gas flows past it. Insertion flowmeters are used for larger pipes and ducts where the cost of a full-bore flowmeter would be prohibitive.
Inline flowmeters are installed directly in a pipe or duct and come in two subtypes: axial and radial. Axial flowmeters measure the gas flow along the same axis as the pipe or duct, while radial flowmeters measure the gas flow perpendicular to the axis of the pipe or duct.
3. What are the advantages and disadvantages of each type of quality gas turbine flowmeter?
Insertion flowmeters are more cost-effective than inline flowmeters for large pipes and ducts. However, they can cause pressure drops and are not suitable for pipes with irregular shapes.
Axial flowmeters are more accurate than radial flowmeters and are suitable for measuring gas flows at high velocities. However, they are more expensive than radial flowmeters and require a straight section of pipe upstream of the flowmeter for accurate measurement.
Radial flowmeters are less expensive than axial flowmeters and can be used in pipes with irregular shapes. However, they are less accurate than axial flowmeters and are not suitable for measuring gas flows at high velocities.
In conclusion, the choice of quality gas turbine flowmeter depends on the application requirements, the pipe or duct size and shape, and the gas flow rate and velocity. By understanding the different types of flowmeters and their functions, you can select the best one for your application and achieve accurate and reliable gas flow measurement.
